Visit to Collegium in Arévalo with the IE Foundation
June 3rd, 2022
Yesterday, the IE Arts & Humanities Division and the IE Foundation travelled to the city of Arévalo for a visit to Collegium.
Collegium is considered a strategic institution in the field of research, production and exhibition of contemporary art, with a focus on the cultural production of the 21st century, contributing to the recovery and revaluation of the richness of the cultural, historical and architectural heritage of the Province of Ávila and its surroundings.
A group of IE Foundation Fellows, as well as several IE faculty and staff members enjoyed learning first-hand about the inspiring project from Javier Lumbreras, co-founder of Collegium, before viewing the current exhibition Sustancias-SUSTANCIAS curated by Patrick Charpenel. The exhibition includes Los Caprichos by Francisco de Goya, in harmony with the works of 25 contemporary-artists from across the globe.
To complete the cultural outing to Arévalo, Keely Eisele of the Arts & Humanities Division gave students a tour of the city center, highlighting its historical importance to the community of Castilla y León and Spain.
Thank you to Phenyo Mabokela, Student in the Master in Management, and to Juan Alcalde for these photos of the trip.
