IE University students participate in a course in Art History at El Prado Museum

Six students from IE University have been awarded grants from the IE University Arts and Humanities Division to participate in an Art History course offered by Fundación Amigos Museo del Prado. This course, entitled ‘Renacimiento y Barroco’ offers an extensive study, from The School of Fontainebleau to Johannes Vermeer, to revisit the richness and diversity of the Renaissance and Baroque styles.

“I attended the Renaissance course yesterday at the Museo del Prado Auditorium. It was a wonderful experience that I got to share with my roommate. It was very interesting to analyze a painting through its history as well as a female lens (since it was a female speaker), examining society concerning women and their representation in art”, said Valentina Marcos, Bachelor in International Relations student granted with this scholarship.

The IE University Arts & Humanities Division has already offered this program, thanks to its ongoing partnership with the Fundación Amigos Museo del Prado, to students in the present academic year. Included in this year´s agenda were ‘Desde la Prehistoria hasta el Renacimiento’ and ‘La Primavera del Arte’, which took place in September and October 2021, respectively. In addition, scholarships will be offered to the courses ‘Comparaciones Incomparables’ beginning in April 2022, and ‘El Mundo Contemporáneo’, kicking off in May this year.
