Arts & Humanities Week: A round-table on Stoicism with Professor Miguel Larragaña
A discussion led by Professor Miguel Larrañaga on Lessons in Stoicism: What ancient philosophers teach us about how to live, an open debate on a book by John Sellars.
Professor Larrañaga will guide the conversation:
• Introduce the author, the book and its structure
• Next, offer a brief definition of Stoicism
• Then, open a debate on the main ideas of the book, through the original texts of Seneca, Epictetus and Marcus Aurelius used by Sellars
• Finally, reflect on the current validity of these classic authors and the usefulness of this type of philosophical literature written by contemporary authors
