Guest speaker Ibrahim Al-Marashi visits the Humanities course ¨Women Leaders in Art and History¨

The Humanities course Women Leaders in Art and History:  From Cleopatra to Today had another wonderful guest speaker last week, Ibrahim Al-Marashi. 

 

Ibrahim led the class in a discussion concerning Women and the Islamic State.  The discussion targeted the questions:  Is patriarchy global?  Who are women leaders, past and present, who have caused societal shifts?

 

Ibrahim Al-Marashi is visiting professor at the IE School of Global and Public Affairs as well as an Associate Professor of Middle East History at California State University San Marcos, where he teaches a course on History of Women in the Middle East.  He obtained his doctorate in Modern History from the University of Oxford and his research focuses on 20th century Iraqi history.
