First Autumn Archaeology Camp
It’s been a great pleasure to share the first Autumn Archaeology Camp with our IE students last October (23-25th).
On this occasion, the IEU Archaeology Club, the IEU Antiquity & Middle Ages Research Center, IE Campus Life and the IE Arts & Humanities Division hosted this activity in Herrera de Pisuerga (Palencia).
The site of “Camino de las Ánimas” is one of the most important settlements of the Archaeological complex of Herrera, and is the object of a broader research project developed by the Archaeology Unit.
Apart from the basic archaeological activities derived from excavation and laboratory, we tested some of the latest methods applied to this discipline, as geophysical survey or aerial photography. These kinds of remote sensing techniques open new perspectives and ways of analysing archaeological sites.
In addition, we carried out an immersion experience in the Heritage and Cultural land of this part of the north of Palencia’s province.
