¨The Image of Women in the Masaveu Collection¨ tour at Fundación María Cristina Masaveu with the IE Gender Equality Office

June 23rd, 2022

This week, the IE Arts & Humanities Division teamed up with the IE Gender Equality Office for a special guided visit at the Fundación María Cristina Masaveu Peterson.

The Image of Women in the Masaveu Collection tour explored and analyzed the representation of women in 19th century Spanish art including works by Eduardo Rosales, Sotomayor, Sorolla, Julio Romero de Torres, Zuloaga, and Anglada Camarasa.

We witnessed and discussed the multifaceted challenges that women faced during this period, using art history as a means to understand the past and inform on present day issues and solutions to gender equality.

Many thanks to the Fundación María Cristina Masaveu Peterson for having us!
